Mechanical properties of glued laminated (glulam) bamboo need to be figure out when it is used as structural member. In the case of tensile property, ISO 22157-2 can be adopted for obtaining it. ISO 22157-2 provides three forms of tension specimen i.e. two wedge-shape and one strip-shape equipped with wooden ends. However, referring to the previous test result on bamboo grows in Indonesia, it might be difficult to obtain ultimate tensile strength by using wedge-shaped specimen recommended by ISO 22157-2. Moreover, the other previous study was not conducted in accordance with ISO 22157-2. Thus, evaluation on tension test method required by ISO 22157-2 is essential. This paper presents the evaluation ISO 22157-2 tensile test method and its result. Evaluation was performed by conducting test on the tension specimen of which dimension defined based on ISO 22157-2 and its modification, called as the first and the second tension test, respectively. Tension specimen was made of Petung bamboo that is usual to be used as a raw material of glulam bamboo. The evaluation depicts that the recommended tension specimen is the strip-shaped specimen equipped by wooden ends that has 10 mm and 2 mm dimension in tangential and radial direction, respectively.
