Isi artikelSeropan caves is part of hundreds networked karst caves that form a large underground river system in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. The rainwater is seeping away quickly and infiltrated into underground flow system. This condition causes the absence of water reservoirs and water scarcity during dry seasons. A research project for the application of wood staves pipelines that brings pressurized water to generate PaT (Pumps Used as Turbines) by lifting the water flow from underground river to the surface in Seropan cave were performed. This experimental study of wood stave pipeline made from Durian wood was carried out through loading of internal pressure under dry conditions. In-sight investigation on several wood species that have availability in the market and adequate both physical and mechanical properties was also carried out in this study. The test results at internal pressure 2.7 bar and 40 cm ring stiffener distance indicated that the highest radial displacement were 5.4 mm. The highest longitudinal and tangential wood stress after corrected for its saturated factor and time duration factor were 14.77 MPa and 1.67 MPa, respectively. The highest ring stiffeners stress was 134.4 MPa. Based on the test result Durian is categorized in class C20 with 20.7 MPa of MOR and 5.23 MPa of compression perpendicular to grain strength at 2% strain.
