Isi artikel
This paper descibes the latest development of green concrete/green material in Indonesia, i.e the development of Alkali Activated Material (AAM)/Geopolymer. Five silica alumina-rich materials are used to study the development of AAM/Geopolymer, such as : (1) Class F Fly Ash (FAF), (2) Class C Fly Ash (FAC), (3) Metakaoline (M), (4) Redmud (RM) and (5) Silica Fume (SF). Alkali acitvator liquid used is the mixture of natrium hydroxide solution (NaOH) and natrium silicate solution (Na2SiO3). Amorphous state, oxides composition and fineness of material are the main factors to make geopolimerization taken place. Blended raw material system can also be applied to produce geopolymer, including blending amorphous materials with non-amorphous materials. This study confirms the use of wide range of solid waste/by product to produce AAM. The strongest relationships between macroscopic characteristics (such as compressive strengths) and mixture proportion is proposed as a function of compressive strengh (fc) vs molar reactant ratio [H2O/solid]. This relationship can be applied either for paste phase or concrete phase and also for ambient curing or dry curing. Hopefully, this relationship can be constructed further to make a rational nomogram. Once this goal fullfilled, the field application of AAM can be realized and further use of the materials can be significantly developed.
