The aim of this study is how to design and produce fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) composite roofing sheets in mass production to fulfill industrial building material market in Indonesia. FRP composite material is the suitable material for application at corrosive environment such as coastal and chemical industrial plant. The choosing of FRP composite material for roof construction is based on the fact that the material can replace metal material on corrosive environment. As roof construction on tropical climate and corrosive environment, the material properties are good in mechanical-physical properties, resist from chemical gases, resist from UV, and economical price compare to metal. The step of design is led by material selection that is suitable to the above properties. Physical and mechanical properties of the material were found by material testing. After that how to prefer profiles of roof to carry rain fall based on experience of metal roof profiles. The roof was designed to carry wind load, rain fall, and man load when installation. Last step was choosing a method for producing the roofing sheet. Constituent materials of the FRP composite are unsaturated polyester resin as matrix and E-glass chopped strand mat as reinforcement. Aluminum hydroxide filler is added into matrix for reducing cost and improving properties. Roofing sheets were produced by continuous lamination method in a continuous lamination machine.
