Abstract
Non linear system is a system which ouput is not proportional to the input. To obtain the desired ouput and desired characteristic of the syystem a control system is needed. The control system can change non linear system to linear system which stable and have optimal characteristics. This research have objectives to stabilize a ball above beam in decided position and obtain optimal characteristics. The method used in this research is simulation and optimization, also experiment to validate the simulation. According to the simulation and experiment the ball can be stabilized in 0 cm and 10 cm position and also succeed to optimize the ball and beam system so that optimal characteristic of the system acquired which are have rise time below 2 seconds, settling time below 5 seconds, and low overshoot value.
