Abstract
Background : Emotional and behavioral problem recognized as one of serious issue that responsible for adolescent’s behavioral impairment and also lack of productivity and low quality of life. Self-development, family, school and society affected by the behavioral impairment of adolescent.
Purpose : To know the overview of emotional and behavioral problems on the student of junior high school Mardi Waluya Cibinong, Bogor
Methods : This cross-sectional research was done on 554 students of junior high school in Mardi Waluya Cibinong, Bogor. Demographic Questionnaires and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) are major instruments directly applied to respondent. Analysis of this data is univariate.
Results : There were 33.8% (187 students) of Mardi Waluya Cibinong junior high school, from 554 students who experience emotional and behavioral problems, including conduct problem (34.5%), emotional problem (28.5%), peers problem (25.3%), hyperactive (17.3%) and with prosocial (13.5%). Boys are more often found with conduct problem (18.4%) and girls with emotional problem (19%). The respondent of research mainly occupied by female (19.3%), first born (15.3%) and Chinese race society (11%).
Conclusion : Emotional and behavioral problem experienced by (33.8%) Mardi Waluya Cibinong Junior High School student. The impact of emotional and behavioral problem in adolescent are complex, and they need to be detected as early as possible.
