Developmental psychologists have studied moral judgement in individuals and have obtained interesting and important results. Lickona gives a review of these studies. Cognitive developmental research seeks to determin how people think about moral dilemmas, rather than being concerned with the decisions they make or actions they take. Of concern is how people define the dilemma and what concepts of fairness are applied to it. The work does not attempt to make evaluations of the moralilty or worth of individuals. Rather it seeks to understand the processes by which they approach moral dilemmas.
