Isi artikelThis article examines the indonesia's economic fundamentals using both macro and micro economics perspective. The term economic fundamentals are normally associated with a set of economic indicators, economic performance and amcro economic equilibrium. Using a descriptive analysis, the paper suggests that the resilience or the rigidity of macro economic equilibrium from external shocks is very much associated with whether the domestic micro economic condition is frail or tough enough to respond to internal changes. Empirical evidence shows that the indonesian economy is lacking of important prerequisites of powerful micro economic condition such as efficient industy, fair competition, healthy market structure and conducive business environment. As a result, the macro economic condition is not study enough upon external shocks. The paper then, recommends that appropriate roles of government in politics and policy - making process could strengthen the economic fundamentals. A consistent policy is also associated with good governance and clean and efficient bureaucracy, which is another pre - requisite of a strong economic fundamental.
