Isi artikel
Nowadays, we seldom see under five children, suffering from severe unfernutrition. How do these children with severe malnutrition look like ? They have wasted muscles and potted bellies, acquiring this condition not because they are overly fed, but because of abnormal fluid retention in their bodies. This condition is caused by inadequate protein consumption. Their present nutritional state is so bad that their small tummies are not able to provide sanctuary for worms and other onfestations. Besides inadequate nutrient consumption, poor personal hygiene and environmental sanitation definitely increase the severity of this condition. Are we totally satisfied with the present condition ? We rarely or don't see much of children suffering from the disease just described. But may be we are merely touching only the tip of the iceberg. the condition seems safe, but behold the approach of the impending storm ! We certainly should be more cautious with this present state. our preventive efforts should be more directed towards those small, seemingly active and happy children, who are very succeptible to slight changes in climate, mild infections or minor trauma....
