Isi artikelOne of problematic issues in translation deals with consistency, which has been seen as ?a characteristics of a good technical writing in itself? (Rogers, 2008, p. 59). In this case, consistency in translation could help readers to avoid confusion in understanding technical information or instruction (Rogers, 2008). Therefore, this paper attempts to investigate the consistency in terminological choice and meaning in the translation of a bilingual menu. In this setting, 65 words of the menu translated into English were analyzed by categorizing the menu in segment-level into five types of inconsistency. The result indicated that inconsistency exists both in the source text and the target text and it consequently effects the translation of the target text. In conclusion, due to the role of the source text in the target text translation, it is suggested that translators should consider the consistency and correctness of the source text before translating into the target text.
