Isi artikelPeople are always surrounded by a variety of situation that could threaten the welfare of their life. Situations can be very dangerous and threatening. It also can be harmless. As assessment of various situation was related to risk perceptions to disasters. Risk perception to disasters is important to know in order to examine matters that are considered as the risk of disaster, so it can be a variety of comprehensive management strategies. Adolescents as research subjects are the next generation that are expected to give a major contribution to disaster relief, so that their perception is important to be assessed. The research was conducted in elementary, junior high, high school, and college students in five areas in the Greater Jakarta by 1157 of subjects. Research tools used were two types of risk perception questionnaire that was adapted from Kpanake, Chauvin, and Mullet (2008). Type a questionnaire reliability coefficient was 0926 (M=425.18, SD=65.62), and type B is 0956 (M=507.43, SD=80.96). Elementary school students perceived drugs, bomb threat, and students perceived drug abuse, HIV/AIDS and the tsunami as disasters. Level of cognitive developments, living contexts, daily activities, and experiences in disaster turned out to affect the things that are perceived as disaster.
