This research studies optimization of replacement based on opportunity for short life cycle system with two-dimensional warranty. System failure during warranty is modeled using the one-dimensional point process formulation where the usage is modeled as a function of time. The opportunity comes randomly and it is modeled as a homogeneous Poisson process with A as a parameter. System failure during warranty and after warranty is restored by minimal repair. During the time between the occurrence of opportunity and the time instant of replacement, the user may incur penalty cost due to the delay of replacement. Decision variable for this research is 5, which describes an optimum operating time. Optimum value of S (S*) is attained by minimizing expected cost per replacement period. Finally some numerical results are also presented to illustrating optimal condition and to analyze influence of warranty period, minimal repair cost, replacement cost and penalty cost to S*.
