S. department of commerce recently copleted a "mid - decade strategic review of the U. S. economic accounts" that covered the national, regional and internatinal accounts prepared by the bureau of economic analysis (BEA). The review was driven by a concern that the economy is changing in ways that test the ability to capture it statistically and a belief that such a review would provide coherence for efforts to improve the accounts and to give users confidence that the right problems were being addressed.
