Isi artikelIn many countries and industries, manufacturing management is still subordinate in strategy making to the marketing and financial functions. Many firms have no formal manufacturing strategy and simply not geared to a business's corporate strategy. Without a meaningful strategy, firm often make short-term decisions that are in conflict with their long-term goals, which invariably results in a poor match between manufacturing activities and the firm's overall strategy. This research describes how operation management in PT X using manufacturing audit approach as key element to formulate manufacturing strategy that fit the corporate strategy. The formulation of manufacturing strategy proposed by Menda 2004 has applied in PT X and particularly used for medicine product A and B. manufacturing strategy alternatives adopted include cost reduction and variations of flavor for product A. For product B, manufacturing strategy adpted is only cost reduction.
