Isi artikel
In families whose members have weak egos, there is a tendency to project all problems onto the children. Conjoint family therapy holds less threat to self-involvement of the parents. By treating the whole family, early, unmet dependency needs can be reached. Interlocked, unconscious fears of separation and individuation interfere with growth. Relationships which have been over- or under-involved become more spontaneous, trusting, and intimate. This method encourages the family to achieve a new homeostatic level.
