MDA (Malondialdehid) that is oxidating LDL has important role in forming of atherosclerosis at heart disease. The aim of the study was to know the increment of MDA value among heart disease patients at RSVP Dr. Sardjito Y ogyakarta, This study was case control. Subjects were patients hospitalized at RSVP Dr. Sardjito, Yogyakarta. The plasma MDA value (Smith Methods) was examined at the Biochemistry Laboratory, Medical Faculty, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Data were analysed using Student's t-test. There were 88 subjects, 44 subjects in the case group and 44 subjects in the control group. Age was divided into 3 groups: <40, 40-60 and >60 years old. There are no significant difference in the sex distribution (p=I.000) and the group of age (p=0.860) between case and control groups. The , highest heart disease case was found in the group of>60 years old (43.20%). Thereis a significant difference in the mean of ~lasma MDA value (p=O.OOO) between the case group (3.0241:i:1.96 nmol) and the control group (1. 60:i:0. 53). In the <40 years old age group, there is a significant difference (p=0.006) in the plasma MDA value between the case group (4.39:i:2.34 nmol) and the control group (1,60:i:0,53 nmol), There is a significant difference in the plasma MDA value between case (2. 66:f:1,94)1 and control (l,59:i:0,65) among the 40-60 years old age group (p=0,041). There in significant different in the plasma MDA value (p=O,OlO) between the case grOUp! (2.68:i:1.55 nmol) and the control group (1.63:i:0.44) among the >60 years old agel group. This research showed that there is a significant increment of the plasma MDA
