Isi artikelThis is a preliminary study to investigate the effect Brugia malayi excretory secretory protein on host. Lymphatic filarial worm Brugia malayi releases the various materials such as surface coat, molting fluid, parturition fluid, metabolism and excretory secretory product. Those materials have immunogenic characteristic and an antigen called ES antigen. The objective of this study was to isolate Brugia malayi excretory secretory produced by adult worm. in vitro. Brugia mala)'i excretory secretory was obtained by in vitro culture technique of one adult worm per ml at 37°C in 20 ml RPMI without sera. Brugia malayi adult worm was obtained from infected girds. The ES protein was collected from the culture medium was analysed quantitatively by Bradford method. After nine days cultivation, the adult worms Brugia malayi (56 worms) could release ES protein as many as 0,36 1lg/1l1. This result is not quite different from the study reported by the other researcher. The amount of the released ES protein was very low.
