Threat of HIV / AIDS to Injecting Drug User in Three Provinces (DK! Jakarta, Jawa Barat and Jawa Timur) in Indonesia, 2002/2003 Dina Bisara lolong, Sunanti, Sugiharti Since 1999, the HIV/AIDS cases in Indonesia, especially in some provinces, were increased significantly and its transmission was predominantfy occurred by the use of syringe. The purpose of this study was to find out the problems among narcotic users in 3 provinces namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, and East Java. The study was performed in 2002/2003. Data were obtained from deep interview and from annual report of HIV/AIDS cases until 2002. The results showed that the inaease of HIV/AIDS cases were transmitted primarily by use of syringe although there were other causes such as hetero and homo-sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, and from mother to offspring.
