Isi artikelThis paper is trying to find out the functions of the character stage manager who appears on stage in a paly by thornton wilder entitled out town. Usually, a real state manager remains hidden behind the curtain for he only arranges the actors and the properties in a play performance. That is why the writer of this paper will try to find the reasons why wilder reveals him on stage. In addition to finding out about his functions for the whole play. It seems that he is influenced by the dalang (puppeteer) inthe oriental theater.
