Intraocular pressure measurement is affected by central comeal thickness. Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) changes the central comeal thickness. The objective of this study was to evaluate the intraocular pressure (lOP) measurement with Tonopen prior to and after LASIK. For a prospective study of clinic-based population undergoing elective LASIK surgery for myopia co"ection, lOP measurements were obtained preoperatively and postoperatively with Tonopen. Central corneal thickness was also obtained before and after surgery. Subjects were assigned into two groups, there were spherical equivalent (Sf) less than 6 diopters (0) as group I and 6 D above as group II. The mean corneal thickness reduction after LASIK were 65,90:t 20,96 J1m in group I, and 115,05:t 18,45 J1m in group II. The mean of lOP preoperatively were 11,70:i: 1,49 mmHg in group I and 10,50:i: 1,00 mmHg in group II.
