Although the Chinese community is spread throughout Indonesia, the linguistic study of this minority group has been focused only in Java. To compensate for this discrepancy, a sociliolinguistic study was conducted outside Jawa, that is, in the city of Sekadau, West Kalimantan. The research is to reveal how the Chine community in the Sekadau multilingual area choses a language to use in their social interaction. The theory used is based on Fishman's 1970 work, particularly in the social domain for the the language choice.
