Isi artikelWith the advent of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action programs, the abolition of salary differentials based solely or largely on gender has become a priority policy goal. However all indications are that much progress will have to be made before this goal is realized. This is true of the american workforce as a whole and ironically it is no less true of the public sector, in which the commitment to wiping out the effects of past discrimination is supposedly strongest.
