The market is mature and competition for market share will remain keen. Some rivals will merge or form alliances. Fastest growing categories will be microwave ovens and dishwashers, the slowest will be refrigerators and freezers. Environmental changes, now in progress, range from phasing out harmful chemicals in refrigerators to water conservation in washng machines. Technical improvements include induction cooktops, microwave clothes dryers, and the use of advanced sensors for energy and time savings.
