Oleh: Marcello, Peter W. ; Roberts, Patricia L.
Jenis: Article from Journal - ilmiah internasional
Dalam koleksi: The Surgical Clinics of North America (Keterangan: ada di ClinicalKey) vol. 76 no. 1 (Feb. 1996), page 11.
Isi artikelThe cost of “routine” preoperative screening examinations is considerable, estimated to be more than $30 billion per year in the United States. Approximately 60% of preoperative screening tests are not necessary for the patient’s perioperative management. Selective ordering of tests appropriate for a patient’s age and associated illnesses would save billions of dollars, reduce the further evaluation of borderline or false-positive screening results, and prevent iatrogenic injury related to these tests. A comprehensive summary of appropriate preoperative screening is provided.
