Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and other endovascular methods provide an alternative to conservative treatment or vascular reconstructive surgery for the management of selected patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease. This article describes the results of percutaneous balloon angioplasty in the treatment of peripheral arterial occlusive disease and discusses the variables that are predictive of long-term success.
