I’ancreaticohiliary diversion can he used in the treatment of severe primary duodenogastric reflux. The Roux-en-Y procedure often leaves patients with serious side effects due to the vagotomy and antrectomy that are required with this form of pancreaticobiliarv diversion. The duodenal switch procedure leaves a small portion of suprapapillarv duodenum in continuity with the stomach and obviates the need for vagotomy or antrectomy. Laboratory and clinical testing of the duodenal switch procedure has shown shown in to be a safe, nonulcerogenic, and effective treatment for duodenogastric reflux.
