Definition of the precise appearance of ulcers by endoscopy gives important information about the source of bleeding, the risk of rebleeding, and indications for surgery. There are several effective endoscopic modalities for control of bleeding from a peptic ulcer. These modalities include thermal, injection, topical, and mechanical methods. This article presents the current status of endoscopic managment of bleeding peptic ulcers.
