Isi artikelSeveral propsals have been made that would fundamentally change the way the federal reserve conducts monetary policy and remove the fed's role bank supervision and regulation. These reforms would seriously reduce the fed's effectiveness in carrying out is mission. In particular, the exquisite set of checks and balances between the public and private sector organization aspects of the fed would be removed, thereby subjecting the fed to direct political control. This would reduce even further the fed's ability to pursue price stability and sustainable economic growth.
