Isi artikelThe work of city planners in very broad terms is the determination of best uses of land to promote livable comunities. To plan properly for a community, a planning department must be able to project not only the total future population and employment for a community but also where it will be distributed. Ironically, city planners tradtionally have had only modest training in statistics and economics. Consequently planning departments often employ non - planners to do the necessary quantitative work. As one of the few practicing planners with graduate degrees in both economics and planning, the author's work for cobb county, georgia has allowed him to establish a link with eocnomics and planning.
