Isi artikelTo cure america's health care infirmity, political conservatives has proposed reforms of the health care system, including managed competition, consumer choice plans, responsible national health insurance and personal, portable catastrophic insurance with medical IRAs and medisave accounts. This article reviews those proposals and recommends that the most effective way to improve the quality of medical care, control costs, and expand basic coverage is to eliminate the tax prederence for employer - provided insurance. Consumers rather than third party payers can then make choices about their medical care. Market forces can equilibrate supply and demand, and american busniesses can focus on business instead of employee benefits.
