Oral and systemic health are related. Medical conditions and their treatment can alter oral cavity physiology. Medical conditions, including disabilities, can affect delivery of dental care. Oral health is increasingly being related to systemic illness and systemic health consequences such as prematurity of offspring and cardiovascular disease.
