Isi artikelUsing labor productivity measures compiled by the bureau of labor statistics, it appears that productivity trends for individual industries are relatively stable overt time with respect to each other. Industries with above - average productivity gains during the 1970 s, for example, were likely to experience above - average gains in the 1980 s, while industris with below - average changes continud in that vein in both periods. Also, although productivity gains were higher in the 1980 s than the 1970 s for most industries, the largest increases occured in those industries that had above - average gains during the 1970 s.
