The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is an important safety net health care system for many of the nation’s poor, uninsured, and underinsured. As the largest integrated health care system in the nation, the Veterans Administration provides health care to 40% of veterans who are eligible for VA services and treats approximately 4 million veterans a year.
