As committed by Indonesians, that one of the national aims is to establish well-educated national long-life. Hence, books become the science and technology transformation media which can be produced massively as one of the media which will meet objectives stated above. However, currently we are still faced with issues concerned with thus books whether in term of consumers and producers. In term of consumer, it is due to the of reading interest (resulted from education system failure) and restricted access into the reading itself (resulted from low purchase-capacity and insufficient library). On the other hand, that is in term of producers, we cur¬rently hold a considered conservative books industry compared with other countries whether in term of quantity and quality. This situation resulted from a high cost and legal uncertainty within business. In order to deal with the problems, therefore the government need to issue some policies to enhance thus reading interest and accessibility as well as empow¬ering publisher and author of the books. Thus policies consisted of 1,) Book Institu¬tion Arrangement through establishment of independent Dewan Buku Nasional to substitutes Pusat Perbukuan Departemen Pendidikan Nasional; 2) Improvement mechanism of school textbook commerce control; 3) Legal certainty (law enforce¬ment) to diminish widespread piracy; 4) Considered books industry as strategic industry; and 5) Library management to give raise accessibility toward literatures.
