Background: The burden of avian influenza in animal and human is borne by the poultry industry and its linkages industries. Cost of avian influenza is analyzed to identify the urgency and importance of integrated avian influenza control strategy. Method: Cost of avian influenza in Bali that should be borne by all stakeholders is measured by calculating the disease burden in the social perspective. Direct and indirect costs of all avian influenza stakeholders are calculated. Results: Should there is an outbreak of avian influenza in Bali and no appropriate control strategy is conducted, total cost of avian influenza borne by all stakeholders will be almost Rp 7 billion. However, total cost of avian influenza prevention activities is much less than the total cost of the outbreak. Conclusion: Bali, as a tourist destination, needs to recognize the cost of avian influenza outbreak as tourism industry is very sensitive to communicable disease issue. As avian influenza outbreak costs huge burden to the society, it is crucial to conduct integrated control strategy, particularly among government agencies and Media.
