Isi artikel
The incidence of childhood obesity is on the rise. A knowledge of airway issues unique to obese children is important for people taking care of them. The establishment of an airway in an acute airway loss requires a keen knowledge of endolaryngeal, as well as external laryngeal, anatomy because fat deposits make examination challenging. There is a subset of children with obstructive sleep apnea that mimics the adult model in which obesity plays a major etiologic role. Therapy for these patients is directed at providing a safe airway and reducing the potentially life-threatening sequelae of chronic obstruction.
