Diaper dermatitis is a common entity, particularly in infants 9 to 12 months old. This diverse group of conditions can usually be differentiated on clinical examination. The incidence of diaper dermatitis is falling secondary to advances in the composition of diapers. Simple hygiene measures and protective bland ointments are helpful for prevention and treatment, and often antifungal medications are necessary. Any recalcitrant diaper dermatitis or other concerning findings need to be closely examined for less-common underlying etiologies
