This article is an overview of the epidemiology and spectrum of clinical disease attributed to influenza and respiratory syncytial virus in children it separetely discusses the pathogenesis of the two diseases and the host responses to the viruses to emphasize each infections significance and need for a vaccine. Updates on current preventive measures and a preview of potential future vaccine developments are presented.
