Interruption not only happened in conversations between friends, but also between buyers and sellers. This study aims to describe the position, agent, and type of interruptions in buyer-seller conversation. Using 30 conversations from four wholesalers in Jakarta, it was found that the buyers interrupted more than the sellers. In simultaneous talk, the interruption found was near transition places (TRP), far from TRP. and before delayed completion of speakers. In nonsimultaneous talk, interruption was identified in the first of interrupter's transition unit (TCU), in TRP of first speaker, and before delayed completion. The types of interruption were stealing interruption, creating interruption, and forcing interruption. |
