Isi artikel'Self-development' is one of the crucial issues that has been discussed by philosophers since Aristotle. Many of them considered that self-development has a metaphysical as well as an ethical dimension. However, in the course of history, self-development has been undermined by certain types of metaphysical and ontological views on human beings. William Desmond, one of the contemporary philosophers, brings the topic back to the public discussion on "how the ethics of self development" can be realized in his concept of ethical selvings. It means the concretion of being good in its immediate and self-mediating actualization. This particularly refers to the given effectiveness and plurivocal becoming in human selvings. This article is a presentation of some dimension of Desmond's theory with a lesser extent of my reflection. It suggests that the realization of Desmond's ontological and metaphysical ethics needs a social condition in which ethics and law are mutually supported.
