Background: Chronic daily headache (CDH) may important activities of daily living. One of the methods for measuring of that impact is headache disability index (HDI). Objective : to analyze emotional and functional activities of subject with primary CDH at neurology outpatients department in hasan sadikin hospital. Method : this was a clinicla epidemiology study with selective prevalence design patients (n = 63) were recruited from march 2005 to september 2005. SDH subtypes were classified according to the criterias proposed by silberstein and lipton. All subjects were assessed with HDI. The intensity of pain was assessed with visual analog scale (VAS). Results : most patients (75%) had a clinical diagnosis of CTTH, while TM / CM 23% NDHP 1% and HC 1%. The intensity of pain were mild 22%, moderate 65% and severe 13%. The mean period suffered from headache was 24,16 months. HDI emotional and HDI functional scores was significantly correlated with intensity od pain (P = 0,000). Period suffered from headache had only effected in emotional score while types of headache was not significantly correlated with emotional and functional scores. Conclusion : CDH patients, disabilities is affected by the intensity of pain and period suffered from headache as measured by HDI.
