This article presents a rationale for encouraging marital and family therapists to become more acquainted with the sex therapy literature and with the “elegant solution” to sexual problems. Two positions for sexual intercourse are discussed that have been used in successfully treating 81% of men (22 of 27) presenting with rapid ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, or unconsummated marriage. By ensuring that the man has control over the pace of the encounter and an unobstructed viewof his partner’s genitals, both positions are designed to increase his sense of mastery and to thereby reduce the anxiety associated with sexual intercourse.
