Isi artikelThe Interpersonal Adjective Scales (IAS) were developed to allow assessment of interpersonal traits from the perspective of the circumplex model of personality. In this study, the authors examined the fit of the IAS to the circumplex from multiple perspectives, testing different versions of the model and applying different methods. Overall, the IAS’ fit to the structural requirements of the circumplex was excellent; even in the worst case, departures were of negligible practical significance. In fitting circumplex models to data, future researchers will need to move beyond the current descriptive focus toward greater emphasis on testing of competing theoretical models that account for circular relations among variables.
