Isi artikel
Another toxic explosive is now amenable to phytoremediation, but the political will to implement this technology remains in doubt. The hazards of explosives are not limited to their capacity to decompose objects at great velocity. Explosives such as hexahydro 1,3,5 trinitro - 1,3,5 triazine (RDX) and 2,4,6 trinitrotoluene (TNT) are extremely toxic to most organisms and have become global environmental health hazards. In this issue, bruce and colleagues extend their previous work on phytoremediation of TNT by showing how transgenic plants can clean up solls contaminated with RDX (fig. 1).
