If there's a positive message to take away from the FDA's seemingly endless troubles in 2005, it may be that smaller companies aer inreasingly registering on the agency's radar. By all accounts, 2005 was the most politically charged year in recent memory at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Safety issues around multiple products and the continuing absence of a strong commissioner have kept the agency on the congressional line of fire. The failure to articulate, much less follow through on, a long term vision, coupled with overall government wide budgetary restarints, has left staff level morale low...
