Malaysia has recently set outs its first biotech policy in order to gain a competitive edge by taking advantage of its traditional industries and sample natural resources. Analysts are caustiously watching how malaysian biotech could develop differently from other countries around asia. Its prime competitor is neghbouring singapore, which has been making major efforts, backed up by intense public relation campaigns, to make a biomedical cluster within its borders over the past few years. Malaysia has yet to prove that it can fund its own niche on the global biotech scene and become an attractive destination for foreign companies to find partners...
