The use of psychopharmacologic interventions for children with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related conditions is becoming increasingly widespread despite little empirical evidence that supports this trend. This article reviews the current research concerning the efficacy of psychotropic medications for childhood PTSD and discusses the clinical, research, and policy implications of this literature.
