A new land could eliminate a potfall common incollaborative research the potential for creating prior art against one's own research. On april 29, 2004, the untied states congress's senate judiciary committee approved the cooperative research and technology enhancement (VREATE) act of 2003, (S 2192), the house version of which passed on March 10 (HR 2391). The bill will now go to the full senate for action. If signed into law, the act will amend 35 USC $103 ot provide that patentability is not precluded in the case of research carried out under joint research agreement conducted across entities....
