Radio wave is a kind of electromagnetic wave travelled in earth atmosfer. The direction of wave propagation is called a ray. By electromagnetic field approach a fenomena is discussed when a ray strikes a boundary of two medium with different dielectric constant. Total reflection will occur as a ray comes from a medium with a high dielectrical constant to a medium with a low dielectrical constant and the incident angle is greater than critical angle. The discussion is done to find out a reason why loss of communication is happened between an airplane and some air port.
