Since the first year, students should be trained in autonomous thinking to be able to make conclusions from his / her analysis, without the help of other people. This skill is easy to master if supported by a learning style which is in accordance with the higher education characteristics, which are certainly different from the high school's. This survey is aimed to recognize the learning style of freshmen based on the barbe and swassing method, consisting the visul, auditory a nd kinesthetic (VAK) modalities. Subjects are freshmen of UBAYA 2002 obtaining through a quota sampling (N = 401), which were then divided according to their study program / faculty. Results show that there are no differences in VAK learnig styles between the groups except the kinesthetic style which is more applicated by the farmacy students than the economy students. Similarieits and differences among the groups are discussed.
